Edward Lewis

Edward joined the firm in 2017.

Edward joined the firm in 2017 and specialises in high value and complex Claimant Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims.

Edward originally studied for a degree in Classical Studies and Ancient History at the University of Leicester before going on to do his Law degree at De Montfort University and subsequently a Master’s degree in Business Studies at Canterbury Business School part of the University of Kent. He completed his solicitors’ training exams, known as the Law Society Finals course, at the College of Law in Guildford.

He became a Solicitor in 1997 and has worked in firms in Kent and London and for a number of years was a Partner and Head of Department in a firm in south east London. Prior to joining Campbell Courtney & Cooney he specialised for a number of years in cycling claims brought on behalf of members of British Cycling. He has also worked for a short period in defending Clinical Negligence claims working for NHS Resolution (claims brought against NHS Trusts) and the Medical Protection Society (claims brought against GPs and private doctors) in London.

He has been recognised as a Senior Litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers since 2004.

He is also a Life Member of Headway (the brain injury charity), an associate member of the Spinal Injuries Association and a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers’ Association.

In May 2017 Edward was elected to serve as President of Kent Law Society for 2017/18 representing the solicitors of Kent. Kent Law Society is one of the oldest local law societies in the country. During that time he led the committee that organised the celebrations for the Society’s 200th Anniversary in May 2018 as well as engaging with The Law Society in London and the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority over access to justice and ongoing changes to the solicitors’ profession. Edward was also recently re-elected to serve as Chairman of the board of directors of Kent Law Society Services Ltd that organises continuing professional development training courses for solicitors based in Kent.

Edward’s interests include Ancient Greece and Rome, wine, politics and supports the reds, better known as Liverpool FC and Wales RFU. He is also a proud father of a lovely daughter.
